Fiji Landscape Photo and Panoramic Picture Gallery
Though people around the world are usually familiar with the spectacular Fijian landscapes, beautiful white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and island resorts of Fiji, not so many are aware of the beauty of the highlands and rural landscapes that bless the larger islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. This view, taken at the beginning of 2006, is from the main Kings Road east of Tavua en route to Rakiraki. It shows a view of Mt Nasawakasa through a coconut plantation.
This region is known as Yaqara, and its rural attributes have seen the development of Fiji's beef cattle industry in the past. More recently, other developments have been occurring, such as a major development of a movie studio combined with housing, resort development and business centres. The project has passed the approvals stage and is now being marketed to investors world wide.
Fresh, clear underground spring water is also a feature of this northern part of Viti Levu in Fiji, and the world-renowned Fiji Water Bottling company is located here. Fiji Water is sold around the world and popularised by the entertainment media of film and television. Other spring water companies have subsequently arisen in Fiji. This tranquil landscape belies the activity that will occur in this region. |
