Fiji Islands is famous for the unforced friendliness of its people. Fijians will be ready to welcome you to their islands, and will be sad to see you leave. Fijians are well-known for their love and caring attitude to children and, as you travel around Fiji, you will be enchanted by the natural, unassuming antics of the children.
The roads in Fiji pass through many Fijian villages and as you pass by they will often wave in greeting, or hide shyly behind a mango tree. In the local rivers you will often see them dive and play in the water, and if they spot a camera, they will be spontaneously increase their diving and splashing and this will ensure you get some memorable images!
In this panorama, local children are seen chewing on ripe sugar cane - a natural sweet enjoyed by both indigenous Fijian as well as Indo-Fijian children. Sugar cane farming is one of the main economies in Fiji and is prevalent on the drier western facing (lee side) coastlines of the main islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. |
